What is Invisalign or Clear Aligners?

Invisalign uses a system of clear aligners to properly and carefully realign your smile. If your teeth are crowded or crooked, it is important that you have them straightened to improve your oral health. Invisalign is virtually invisible to the naked eye, so no one will even know that you’re wearing braces. The system is ideal for patients of all ages, including adults.

Why might Invisalign or Clear Aligners be needed?

If your teeth are severely crowded or crooked, it can be difficult to care for them properly. Likewise, you might not feel confident in the way that you look because of your current smile. Invisalign can be beneficial for patients who don’t want to wear metal brackets and wiring. You can feel more confident in your orthodontic journey when only you and the dental team knows you’re wearing braces.

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign or Clear Aligners?

Invisalign is a lot more effective than most people think, and it can work to correct even severe crowding and misalignment. To determine if treatment is right for you, we’ll perform an exam and take x-rays. Most of our patients who want or need clear aligner treatment can benefit from coming in for care. Patients should be able to commit to treatment and make time for regular orthodontic appointments.

What happens during treatment using Invisalign or Clear Aligners?

We begin the Invisalign process with a consultation. This appointment will include x-rays, impressions and an exam so that we can get to know your smile and goals. We then make your very first set of clear aligners. You will be instructed on how often to wear the aligners and how to remove them. Most often, you’ll remove the aligners when eating and brushing, and you’ll need to wear them for about 22 hours each day. You will need to come in every few weeks so that we can make new aligners for you as your teeth begin to shift.
