During Your Appointment
After initially being checked in, you may have a short wait before being brought into the treatment room. You will meet one of our assistants who will help you get settled into the dental chair. A routine dental appointment will begin with a visit from the hygienist. Digital x-rays will be taken to determine what, if anything, is happening below the visible surface of your teeth and gums. The hygienist will perform an initial examination of your teeth and gums to determine if you have any decay or gum disease that needs to be addressed. This introductory exam will also allow the hygienist to decide the most effective cleaning for your teeth. This phase of your visit will conclude with a professional cleaning.
Next, you will be seen by the dentist. Your dentist will share the results of your preliminary exam and perform a more in-depth examination of your mouth. This will include a simple screening for oral cancer. This screening is painless and only takes a few minutes to perform.
If you have questions or concerns about your oral health or any procedures that may be suggested, you may ask about them at this time.
